It's been quite the winter, my friends. All this snow and cold has been exhausting. I've defintely been effected by the season, and am very anxiously awaiting much warmer weather.
Because I've been effected by the weather so much this year, I neglected those things I love most: stitching, scrapping, and sewing. I just had nothing in me to even lift a needle, let alone make some major headway in a gift that's long overdue.
As March turns into April, I'm trying to make a point again to do something creative most days. I've added reading to that list, because I've neglected books for far too long, and I want to escape into the world of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children once again, or into the world during World War I, a war and a time that is long forgotten. World War II gets all the glory on The History Channel, but far less is heard about The First Great War.
I want to learn more. I want to do things. I want to go places. I want to make more things. Lots of things. I have so many ideas, and I need to make sure I do them.
I need to schedule all this, though, because if you know anything about me, ADD sidelines me almost 99.999999999% of the time, and I don't get as much accomplished as I want. (If anyone finds my coffee mug, please let me know. I don't remember where I left it...)
I found this video in my YouTube favorites, and it's been a while since I watched it. This is the commencement speech Neil Gaiman gave at The University of the Arts in 2012, and its theme is something I want to make my mantra, and maybe even brush script across the wall in my craft room: Make Good Art.
It doesn't have to be perfect. Just make art.
I pledge to make more art this year, perfect or imperfect. I will make art.
